1) Most businesses, home-based or otherwise, do not start to show a profit until after the first three years.Meanwhile, you will sometimes feel like you are hemorrhaging money. Very few businesses do not require an initial substantial outlay of start-up and marketing money. My suggestion is that you don't quit your regular job right away unless you are independently wealthy.
2) Your new business is going to require a space where you can separate yourself from the the rest of the house and work without interference. You will also need to keep business files separate from your family's files. When you are working for your business, you must consider it like any other job.If you try to handle family obligations and work on your business at the same time, family obligations will eventually get the upper hand.
3) Be prepared to work harder and spend more time working than you ever have in your entire life. You' re the person in charge; you can't clock outand let someone else worry about the problems. For example, when you have orders coming in and customers are expecting timely delivery (especially during the Christmas shopping rush),these customers don't want to know that you have already put in a ten hour day.
